How it works

Three steps.
One student at a time.

Every student who graduates from Cascade gets a care team member, someone from the church who shows up for them, consistently, all year long. The app makes sure nobody gets lost.

Student signs up at graduation
A QR card in their graduation envelope. Welcome screen, quick intake check-in, matched with a care team member within 48 hours, anonymously. Their church family is officially on the road with them.

Weekly check-in, every week
Five questions, emoji scale, a scripture card. Wellness scores are tracked quietly in the background. When something shifts, the care team member is notified and reaches out personally, before the student has to ask.

Care arrives before they ask
Gift cards, care baskets, and a personal note from Dr. Murriel. Sent proactively, not in response to a request. Every delivery says "from our Cascade family." Students never know who's behind it. That's the point.

Who's involved

Three roles. Minimal time.
Maximum presence.

The program runs on about 2 hours a week total: one coordinator and a small care team. Students never know who's behind their care.

Coordinator
1–2 hours / week
Sees the full clinical picture: wellness scores, flags, SOS events. Assigns care team members, builds care baskets, sends the monthly digest to Dr. Murriel. This is the young adult or college pastor.
The only person who sees clinical data. Everyone else only sees what they need.

Care team member
30–60 min / week
A near peer (recent grad) or adult mentor. Messages their assigned students, checks in personally when the app flags something. Never sees clinical scores, just the conversation and a simple status.
Students only ever see "Cascade Care," never the care team member's name.

Senior pastor
Once a month
Receives a one-page aggregate digest: no student names, no clinical data. Signs 20–30 personal notes per semester for inclusion in care packages. That's the full commitment.
"No action needed from you this month." The last line of every digest.

Anonymity is the foundation, not a feature
Students interact with "Cascade Care" as an institution, not as an individual. No awkward Sunday morning conversations. No student ever knows who their care team member is. Most of the cost is the care itself: gift cards, care boxes, personal notes. Not software. The program scales with cohort size. This is the real cost of showing up for our students all year long, not just on graduation Sunday.
